Search
Search every page on this site, including gemstones, zodiac signs, months and guides.
Tips for searching
Type a stone, a month or a sign into the box above. Results update as you type. Each result shows a short extract, so you can see why a page matched.
Try a stone name such as opal or tanzanite. You can also search a property, such as hardness. Because every stone page lists its sources and origin countries, searching a country such as Brazil finds many stones at once.
Good places to start
Searching a month, such as June, finds the page that compares all four monthly lists. Searching a zodiac sign, such as Leo, finds the page that compares both zodiac lists. Searching a color, such as blue, finds the color pages that group stones by hue.
Short searches work best. A single word such as garnet or November finds more than a long phrase. If a search gives too many results, add a second word to narrow it. Search ignores capital letters, so you can type in any case.
The search runs in your browser and uses an index built with the site. Because of this, it never sends what you type to a server. It finds only pages on this site, and it does not search the wider web.
What the search covers
The index holds every page of the site. That includes each gemstone, each month, each zodiac sign, each color page and each guide. It also covers the tools and the policy pages, so you can find a privacy answer as quickly as a hardness figure.
If you find nothing
Older names can differ from modern ones. For example, chrysolite is an old name for peridot, and hyacinth is orange-red zircon. Try the modern name, or browse the A to Z gemstone reference instead.
Each page also links to related stones, lists and guides, so you can keep exploring. The guides explain how the birthstone lists were built, and why they disagree.
